What made you come up with this idea? |
I used to work for NBA Woodhaven, an organization that obtains homes within the communtiy and creates ISL locations for clients with developmental disabilities. Disabilities range from very mild to very severe and every point in between.
While working for Woodhaven, I got to meet some of the finest people you ever could know... and they were all clients. Two of the ladies I assisted wanted to get friends together and I created a tea party for them to invite their friends to.
The idea was a HUGE success! All had a good time and our guests were sent home full and happy. I contacted other ISLs in the area and was trying to get other tea parties set up. Problems kept showing up. One person was in a wheelchair and couldn't come to the ladies' home due to stairs. Others had problems leaving the house for other reasons.
I found myself frustrated with not being able to plan more teas at the ladies' home. I sat and thought about the problem for a week or two before I figured out the solution... A tea party that comes to the person! And so, Traveling Tea Parties was born!
I quit my job before I could impliment the idea, and it sat in some dark recess of my mind for a few months. One day, I was searching for a business idea and pulled this little idea off of its shelf and dusted it off. And unlike many ideas that are tucked away for so long, this one still had its sparkle and shine. I still had my passion for the idea and thus, I created this website.
